New Job Alert Alert: Now Hiring!!

Job Search Suggestions:

1. Cover letter or email intro:
Do not address a resume to: "To whom it may concern", the answer to that intro is - nobody. Use the person's name if available, Dear Hiring Manager, or Dear Recruiter, or a simple Hello, I am seeking a.......... position (add the remainder of your cover letter here).

2. Confidential Applications:
If you plan to register as a Confidential Jobseeker, indicate in a prominent position on your application, that you are actively seeking a new position. Confidential resumes are generally less likely to be read, the word confidential can be off-putting to a manager, so you must make the extra effort to invite them to read your resume.

3. Create job applications. Resist the urge to simply send a blind resume, or to complete just a portion of the on-line resume form.

4. Contacting the company:
Follow job application directions when applying for a position, before calling a recruiter. You cannot charm a busy recruiter, no matter how great your phone skills. They will do a better job for you if the application information is in a format they can use.

5. Employers seeking to hire are more likely to read complete resumes and to view resumes in a format that they are accustomed to, the rest is for the delete button.

6. Please, Please follow the application instructions. If the job asks you to put the Job ID# in the subject or attach cover letter- Please do so. To ignore directions tells the manager that you do not/will not follow directions - and you wonder why they have not called on your resume.

7. If you have created a a job application please go back in and update, you may have fallen to Resume 5005 - nobody reads that many!! Every now and again, update to rise to the top.

8. Change or remove your objective or summary so you infomation looks new.

9. Still no hits, or interviews after three weeks- Thrash the whole thing. Create a new resume or profile.

10. This not the time for ego or economy, if you are not a skilled writer - have a professional resume writer design it for you, make sure that your resume sizzles!!!.

11. Some of the best career oriented jobs are available at this time.

12. What does all this mean - create fewer online applications and do them properly, then follow-up a day or two later with a mid-afternoon phone call. This could just be your year!!!!
