Manage the technical requirements and welding activities to comply with military welding standard and Boiler Pressure Vessel code ASME section IX.  

Develop welding techniques and procedures for all welding applications/and or qualifications. Investigate and evaluate welding rejects and non-compliance issues.

Determine appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s).  Recommends effective utilization of welding resources and equipment to meet the company goals. The welding engineer is also responsible for the oversight of the metallurgical laboratory.  

Experience with welding automation desired.  Develop new welding procedures and oversee performance and evaluation of weld qualifications and obtain required customer approvals of procedures and qualifications. Interacts and provides technical support to welding production personnel. Investigates and evaluates welding defects to determine appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s).  

Will be the primary customer technical interface with customers and vendors on welding issues. Evaluate and implement use of new welding technology. Selects and recommends new welding equipment. Oversees procurements and installations of new equipment. Develops welding procedures and training of personnel for the utilization of the new equipment. Review new requests for quotations for new welding requirements.   Coordinates and or provides

Contract Sales and or Project Engineering with both welding plans and production estimates including recommendations for new equipment as applicable. Provide oversite of weld record preparation and weld procedure and welder qualification records. Interacts/participates at administrative and/or production meetings to support engineering/manufacturing and Program Management. Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced education and diversified background in welding.
5 - 10 years of hands on experience as a welding application engineer in a manufacturing environment where oxyacetylene hard surfacing PTA GTA x-ray quality structure and seal welding as well as LASER and electron beam welding.  

Strength in engineering metallurgy of material properties material specifications pre and post heat treatment requirements brazing. Knowledge of critical weld joints and hard-surfacing deposits.
