Assures accurate and timely processing and handling of specimens and applies the theoretical concepts of clinical laboratory medicine using independent judgment. Support the laboratory pathology department in preparing processing and staining of tissue specimens for review by the pathologists. Performs procedures consistent with procedures under the direction of the department supervisor manager or director.
Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
Three years of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory, if not a graduate of a technical training school in histology.
