Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a medical records department that support hospital strategic objectives, programs and plans. Ensures that all health information management practices comply with JCAHO and other applicable Developing departmental polices and procedures and handling compliance related issues, will serve on appropriate committees and work directly with physicians and performing related human resource functions. - Five years successfully supervising managing or directing a medical records department in an acute care hospital environment -Knowledge of the legalities involved with client records and confidentiality as well as the policies of the SVAB regarding client records and release of information. - Excellent working knowledge of Health Information Management Components including electronic medical records and experience with electronic health records a plus. -Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology, laws, and regulations as they pertain to long-term care. - Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential. -Must be licensed in accordance with laws of this state.
Must be a certified registered record administrator (RRA), or an accredited record technician (ART), recognized by the American Medical Record Association.
