The Senior Mechanical Engineer will function as a project Lead Engineer and develop efficient cost effective and acceptable design of mechanical components as defined by proposal company purchase order SFPC standards and governing codes standards and recommended practices.
Work is performed with little or no direct supervision - position reports to the Chief Mechanical Engineer. Coordinate the overall design recognizing the requirements of other disciplines such as instrumentation and structural engineering. Assist the chief mechanical engineering with job proposals and hours estimates
• Provide supervision/direction for discipline Mechanical Engineers • Conduct inspections of mechanical equipment at vendor fabrication shops and job sites • Assist project manager in the development of project schedules and drawing lists • Provide troubleshooting expertise for company and vendors including installation/erection assistance at job sites • Assist the spare parts department guarantee the completion of project tasks in a quality manner within budget and on schedule • Develop equipment orientation and location including sketches as required • Equipment application including fans pumps boilers steam drums air heaters burners valves air pollution control equipment • Detailed design calculations including pressure part thickness code calculations fluid flow relief valve sizing and weight calculations • Generate project mechanical documentation including manual valve schedules line lists tie-in lists equipment datasheets pipe class specifications equipment specifications vendor scopes of supply and Bills of Material installation sequences and drawing revision records • Participate in project meetings with the company and vendors, international travel required • Checking of SFPC calculations drawings and documents • Checking of vendor calculations and drawings • Assist in the generation of CBA standard SFPC practices • Provide direction for the preparation of mechanical drawings which present the design for fabrication and installation • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
Requirements: • Proficient in MS Excel and Word familiar with AutoCad software and 3D modeling of equipment • Familiar with piping stress analysis (Caesar stress analysis software preferred) • Familiar with piping isometric drawings • Good communication skills both written and oral • Familiar with welding paint and refractory system • 5-10 years of related work experience designing fired heaters and/or furnaces • Registered professional engineer - preferred
• EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
